G-Land - Good Waves Again

Friday, June 26th, 2009

G-Land Bobby’s Surf Camp guest Dave swiped his nose on the reef this morning, giving that and his upper lip a small gash. Luckily a plastic surgeon happens to be staying in the camp too right now, and he had him fixed up no worries. Said Plastic Surgeon then went out and had the best surf of his life, getting numerous pitting barrels on his backhand, must have got some good karma for his good nose job!

G-Land Surf had an offshore wind caressing it first thing in the morning. Add to this 4-6ft sets and we had a long day of pumping waves at Money Trees, and apart from a 3pm rush of punters in the line-up it was mostly really uncrowded all day in G-Land.

Rode my 6?7 today, with a quad fin set up. It felt like I was on a 5?10 such was the looseness compared to my 7?8! Was real fun to jump down to a 6?7, and the waves were easier to catch today so it worked out well. Thats 4 days in a row of pumping waves… forecast is showing more to come… yeeeooowwwww!!

Classic Money Trees Waves On G-Land Today

Friday, June 26th, 2009

G-Land Surf got a bit crowded during the mid afternoon. Luckily I timed my 2 surfs either side of the peak of the crowd, and got a really good barrel count. Still riding my 7?8, its brought a whole new dimension to my surfing at G-land.

I can now set up barrels differently, take off on waves I couldn’t get before, and doing turns on it is something else as well. Of course after a certain amount of time I’ll get sick of riding such a big board and go back to my shorter ones. Variety is the spice of life.

G-Land had some classic Money Trees waves pumping through all day long. It was glassy early, and then the offshore started mid morning. Sets were coming in a solid 6-8ft. Many guests at G-Land Bobby’s Surf Camp finished the day feeling on top of the world after scoring some epic barrels and getting some awesome rides.

Dr Larry got some smokers all morning through the Fang, with hardly anybody out, he was stoked. Plus he caught a big Trevally fish early in the morning, and numerous lucky guests got to sample some delicious Sushimi dipped in some of Puma’s special sauce he made. Then the rest of the fish came out BBQ’ed for us to snack on, followed by the actual camp main meal of caesar’s salad and Pizziala Steak, Potatoes and Garlic Bread… Mmmmmm!!
